AFTER ALL THOUGHT AND WRITING

When I have absorbed all the “news”, the happenings around me, the opinions of others, the dust cloud of events all over the world, I find I have not “absorbed” it due to the chaotic nature of our current circumstances. I have only glimpsed the confusion, the unending changes thrust upon us. I feel like we are in a new phase of human challenge. Chaos cannot be “absorbed”.

Are these circumstance that present such challenges new, or just new to us? I suspicion that many times in history people have considered their times just as we consider ours, that perhaps the “end times” are near. Obviously, if so, they were wrong, just as we probably are if we think these are the worst, most threatening of times announcing the approaching termination of Homo sapiens sapiens.

I have spent much time thinking and writing about our current circumstances, the way we think and the consequences of our diverse thought, and the conflicting values it produces.

I have found no satisfactory answers to improve my circumstances, much less ours. Will we self-distruct? That remains a serious consideration, without a current answer. Just the real possibility of such a cataclysmic occurrence is stunning, difficult to accept as real.

Insofar as we humans are concerned, all my thoughts and writings are of no real consequence, and will pass like moon shadows in the midst of night, leaving no record of having passed by, as if they never were.
