AVOIDING TRUMP HATRED

NOT EASY

I do not speak of the hatred Trump seeks to inspire in our hearts for other people. I speak of the hatred Trump inspires in us toward himself.

I am in search for greater understanding of Donald Trump. One part of me prefers to just greatly dislike him without struggling to find any possible excuse for his despicably degenerate nature. That characterization is not “hatred”, but it isn’t far from it.

He has previously prided himself as being “appointed by God” to serve us. Could there be any possible truth in this?

Remember Job. Satan had to ask permission to afflict Job, and God granted limited permission, “saying do not kill him”. That is one of the most telling passages in all scripture. If we perceive “Satan” afflicting us, it is only with God’s mysterious, limited permission, for God’s own secret purposes.

The affliction of Job has been characterized as “testing” Job. I don’t think so. I do not think God tests us, but rather offers us difficult opportunities for learning. In Job’s case, it seems the learning was no so much for him as for us.

What does Job have to do with Trump? I suggest that Trump plays the role of Son of Satan, the “father of lies” according to the writer of the gospel of John quoting Jesus. If true, this is a grievous role to which to be appointed.

Why would God sick such a curse on us? Again, to teach us, never for the sake of punishment.
