COGNITIVE EVOLUTION, DEVOLUTION, AND MIND CONTROL

A current news article speaks of another condition that writer says should “Terrify us”. The subject relates to our current entanglement with “conspiracy theories” (which are not “theories” at all). The writer suggests that this condition results as an “evolutionary process” calling up certain animal instincts we have inherited which are intended to mislead other animals that threaten us by providing false information to them.

First, if this is the case, it is a sign of devolution rather than evolution. Most animal instincts serve us well. I’ve never thought of the tendency to mislead to be a significant protective instinct, but as I think of it, I see the point. If it is true that an inherited instinct to mislead is now somehow irrationally seen to serve current needs, our continued evolutionary development of consciousness and rational thought opposes that perceived need to mislead through the presentation of irrational proposals. This can produce cognitive dissonance that must be dispelled through rational analysis.

It seems to me the true underlying purpose of the increasing prevalence of irrational conspiracy ideas that is constantly thrust upon us may be a signal for us, in the furthering our cognitive evolutionary processes, to utilize our rational capacities to see through and dispel the irrational considerations proposed to us.

Through our rational dispelling of the fraud we further our evolving capacity to overcome all that is false and thereby live in Truth. This is an expansion of consciousness…
