COMPARTMENTALIZED INSANITY

We all know very bright, successful, good people who all but worship Donald Trump. My best friend for whom, if necessary, I would die is such a man. He is very intelligent, well above average. He is a generous man of God who devotes himself to his family. Yet he thinks Trump is the greatest.

We both avoid the subject of politics, especially Trump, for the sake of our love for one another. Not that he will not, he cannot see T for who he is.

Sane, gifted, and plain ol’ good as he is, Donald Trump cannot be discussed.

The political compartment in his mind is severely compromised, and he can’t see it or think about it. He sees himself absolutely correct, a thinking man’s thinker. Yet, he is politically insane.

I know how this came to be. As a teenager he listened only to Rush Limbaugh and those who agreed with him. I don’t know, but suspect, his step father introduced him to this line of thought. Now, he does not think about politics. Limbaugh thinks for him. He is literally brain washed, mind controlled by the far right.

There are millions more like him, good people who have lost their political minds, and will not be retrieved.

Our minds have compartments in which certain subjects reside, some perhaps brilliant, others not. Parents and our social circle while growing up program certain subjects of our lives, and it is generally very difficult to see that influence.
