ELECTION DAY; OF VITAL IMPORTANCE

I believe every thinking person knows the truth of this title. For me, the occurrences today are of monumental importance to us all. Those of us who are not followers of Trump realize he will resort to any extreme to steal the election to fulfill his plan to become Dictator.

I type this at 3:00 PM before polls have closed, before the count has begun. The magnitude of today and following days cannot be overstated. Our Democracy hangs in the balance.

Of greatest concern for me is that the former Republican Party has been captured by Trump, and a shocking number of voters support him. I have no explanation for this circumstance.

It seems that the time has come for our Constitutional Democratic Republic to be tested, and strengthened or broken.

The time has come for us to confront the apparent deterioration of our national intelligence. What has brought this about is complex, not simply laid out.

From my perspective, the materialistic focus, worship of money, and loss of common decency and mutual caring is at the heart of our current condition. Selfishness prevails, promoted by our flawed capitalistic competitiveness fueled by lies and trickery of every sort to gain an advantage over others.

This is the way of civil failure. History reveals that a society following the path we have chosen will not last.
