Exactly. Constantine was primarily interested in empowering the church he intended to marry to his empire in order to have final authority over life and the soul. He did his best to take out reincarnation but missed a few clear references. Accepted by early Christians and Jews, reincarnation gave another opportunity to “get it right”. Neither he nor the right wing of the church wanted that. They wanted “now or never” to avoid hell and keep tighter control over its members.
