A METAPHORICAL EXPLORATION

I often speak of the mysteries of life, as if I could begin to grasp them. It is presumptuous and foolish of me to do so. The overwhelming mysteries of our lives are endless and infinite, but we are compelled to attempt as best we can to understand as much as we can, or at least think we are understanding, to some small degree.

The metaphor is to go up, to go high in the sky, to seek to approach the realm of the Divine, which we think to always be above us, up there somewhere.

There are many people who are far more intelligent than I, who can see much more clearly than I, and fly much further, but still I seek, to the best of my ability. I am compelled to do so.

Often I find my mind in a tail spin, wondering if I can pull out. The only safe way out seems to require that I just remove my mind from from the plane, to get away from the flight, to think only on the present moment outside the plane, forgetting the destination I sought in the plane of thought that I flew. I simply bail out, forgetting the plane, and drifting down to some new place below.

Upon landing, I often find that this was my unknown destination that I sought, that the tailspin of thought was perfectly timed to bring me to the exact place I needed to go.

How strange to lose conscious mental control and discover another mind guiding me. This other mind flows out of my unconscious mind which knows far more than my small conscious mind, the tip…
