A STAR WARS ANALOGY

As I have opined before, the stories of “Star Wars” are inspired. They are rooted in the philosophies of the Orient which offer great wisdom.

A continuing inquiry for many of us is, do we really have elements of free will, the ability to make our own meaningful choices, or is everything predestined?

I am now finally without doubt convinced that our being gifted with a spark of the essence of the Universal Mind, the Creator, the Source, what we commonly title as “God”, that spark being the energy of life itself, we are gifted with some of the characteristics of the Source, principal amongst which is free will, the ability and duty to make our own choices.

Those choices will lead to different fixed destinies, depending on which path we chose to follow when presented with several possible path choices.

Our choices affect not just ourselves, but others with whom we travel, and their choices will affect us. We must be prepared to flex with the circumstances that are presented to us. There are circumstances that are not predictable due to the exercise of free will by everyone, and others that will lead to fixed destinies.

A certain level of unpredictability is required by the gift of free will. This adds meaning to the adventure, and adventure to the journey. If everything were predictable, life would be a boring experience.
