I AM HIM, BUT HE IS NOT ME

A FOLLOW UP TO “SELF EXPLORATION….”

Again I explore between myself as the actor who plays “Rip Parker”, and the role I am playing as “Rip”. Rip is a temporary role, I am the actor who accepted the assignment of playing him in this life on planet Earth.

This exploration is helpful to me to distinguish between my two selves. Being a good actor, I have usually been lost in the role I am playing thinking that is me. This is an effort to help me remember who I am, the actor playing a temporary role.

I am Rip, but he is not me.

When time comes for Rip’s serviceable body to wear out and quit, I will go home and take Rip with me. Nothing is wasted. The principal reason to take Rip along is that many at home know Rip but not me. I don’t want them to miss him.

I understand, without memory, that I have previously played many other roles. They are as real as Rip is, it is just that Rip is my current role to play, the only role I currently know.

For practice of separation, I refer to Rip in third person terms. I, as actor, speak of my role as “him”, etc.

This is an interesting exploration, very helpful in aid of my memory who I am, the actor. The role, Rip, is temporary, “I”, the actor, am permanent.

I have much to remember about who I am, apart from the roles I’ve played. Kinda’ blows my mind. May not remember my history as long as I’m playing Rip. Do I, as the actor, have a name? I am an eternal spirit, this I know.
