Isn’t it interesting how we mentally create the “special” nature of something, or even some thought. But anything of value must be shared to maintain that value. Protecting, hoarding “special stuff” is natural, and mostly foolish. Most of us, I think, tend to do this in some manner. Since I do, I gather my own company by saying, “Most of us ….”
Thank you for these thoughts, well worth keeping in mind. I have fallen victim to this tendency many times. As a child, I would hide or bury something “to keep it safe”, to preserve it, then never go back to it, as if hiding it for my sake “preserves” it. It also prevents me from enjoying it other than knowing “I control it”.
A number of people will obtain a special work of art and hide it for their own satisfaction rather than gaining the benefit of unselfishly sharing it for the benefit.
