LOOSENING GRIP WITHOUT LETTING GO
APPROACHING END OF THIS LIFE, LEARNING TO LET GO
No, not frightening, just an exciting part of this journey. So far as I know, I am not in critical condition, looking down the barrel, but the signs of a necessarily wearing out body are with me. Worn, but not done, still capable of healing.
Preparing to give life up is one thing, giving it up is another. A couple of minor strokes, fortunately no longterm damage, but causing a dizzy fall, broken hip — 88 was an interesting year; 89 is interesting because of the bounce back. It is largely attitude that convinces me I have more years to enjoy and learn on this journey as Rip Parker.
I have written about “Rip” being a role “I” play. I remind myself I am not Rip. He is the temporary role, I am the eternal actor who has, I believe, payed many roles before this interesting one, roles in the ongoing drama which are not now, for good reason, yet to be available to memory.
So, to prepare for the approaching death of the material body without rushing it up is a very interesting, informative opportunity. Loosening my grip without letting go is a great pleasure, remarkably relaxing and exciting at the same time, but I sense this is only a step in the right direction.
I look at the world around me, and have no desire to return to it for another run. Oh, the world, Gaia, is great, people are the interesting problem. I remind myself, I am a “people”, but I draw some distinctions.
