NOT PERFECT, NOT HOLY, DON’T WANT TO BE

There is a saying from Zen Buddhism that, “If you meet the Buddha, kill him.” Say what? The only way we “meet the Buddha” is inside us. That would mean we were on a dangerous ego trip, thinking we had become the Buddha. We best never allow that destructive hubris.

Striving for perfection or holiness is a misguided effort. Homo Sapiens will never achieve either. We are not so designed. Remember, even Jesus cursed and killed the out-of-season fig tree for failing to assuage his hunger by providing figs that simply were not there.

Many see that as an imperfect, un-Jesus-like thing to do. Yes, he had a man’s temper. Remember, He said he was “Son of Man” and “Son of God”. Fortunately, he taught the same thing about you and me. Ok, Daughters of Man and Daughters of God are in this too!

Forgive another of my faults, putting men before women. Another unpleasant habbit. The Divine Female is equal to the Divine Male in God in every way.

We are wonderfully imperfect, unholy humans just seeking to improve, if we can. I am pleased to be so. As Popeye was famous for saying, “I yam who I yam”.

I have no higher goal than to authentically be me, Rip Parker, imperfect, unholy, faulty in many ways, but simply who I am designed to be. This is not an excuse to lazily lay back and not seek to correct my faults in whatever reasonable way I can, but the result will never be seen as perfect or holy by me or anyone else.
