ONTOLOGY, ESCHATOLOGY, ETYMOLOGY

BIG WORDS, BIG CONCEPTS

It has been nearly two weeks since I felt the stirring of the Muse. No subject came to mind. Now I begin to write, with no subject in mind, just to see what comes up, if anything.

And, I now suddenly find myself in deep water.

Ontology is what we know. Etymology is how we know. Eschatology asks what happens after physical death. These three subjects tend to wad up in my mind.

Why do we write? Why do we read? In search for Truth, for that “ah ha” moment when something surprisingly clicks into place, completing an image or a useable thought. Then, you know something new, or something previously lost to memory now recalled.

Often it is said that this life is an education. We are in school, here to learn. There are times when we feel like education has ended, that we don’t have the cognitive powers that would enable us to see far beyond our currently known limitations. We know we are limited. We just don’t know how much, so we push the envelope, trying to not tear it, to expand consciousness without overreaching.

Contrary to neurology of the last century, medical science now confirms what some of us have experienced, but seldom spoke of. Medial science now recognizes our ability to increase our neurological capacity by encouraging the growth of new new neurons. This concept was laughed at by the old guard, proclaiming we begin to lose neurons upon birth, and it is down hill from there. NOT SO!
