PERSPECTIVE DETERMINES REALITY
THE MAGIC OF THE THRESHOLD
We look down at a swirl and see a vortex with counter clockwise movement. As we look up on the same swir it becomes an upward spiral moving in a clockwise direction. There is a point of change when our perspective determines our experience, our reality.
I find it a good mental exercise to focus on the point of change, shifting attention slightly downward then upward and observing the shifting reality.
This exercise applies to many aspects of our life. The point of change is a threshold, a critical place where reality shifts, such as evening between day and night, light and dark. These are time/places of real magic where we are neither here nor there, but are standing in the threshold between the familiar past and the unexperienced future.
I am now entering the great threshold between life of the body and its death. My perspective shifts back and forth. This is an exciting time of changing reality from here to there, from the known to the unknown, from desire to stay and preparation to go.
So far as I know, I am not critically ill, on the precipice, but I am 88 years old overcoming a hip replacement. This body is wearing out. Hopefully my mind continues to function reasonably well. When it fails, let me out of here.
The threshold is a time of change, sometimes rapid, sometimes slow, sometimes known, sometimes unknown, sometimes fearful, sometimes exciting, depending on perspective.
