SHIFTING MORES — UFOs, ESP, GHOSTS

For most of my life, when I spoke of the title subjects, and “paranormal” interests in general, I was literally laughed at and mocked as a “new age fool”. Things are now, finally, changing for the better. Intellectually advanced paradigms are in motion.

This is good. Consciousness is showing progress in exploring these once far out subjects. In some respects, our cognitive capacities seem to be improving. Dare I say there is some evidence that Homo Sapiens is getting smarter?

As Tevya would say, as the fiddler danced on his roof, “But, on the other hand …”, there is a frightening amount of evidence that a vast number of us (about half the country) are devolving, becoming loonier and loonier. Outlandish conspiracy “theories”, which are not theories at all, abound, prominently presented by Q in his now fading cult, with others picking up where he left off. The acceptance of The Lie is shocking.

Many of these absurdities would be laughable, if so many supposedly intelligent people didn’t make them so dangerous that lives are threatened. The “Pillow Guy” is a good example. A CEO of some amount of business and financial prestige, makes so many insane pronouncements one must wonder how he stays out of the padded cell while wearing a big canvas jacket tied around him.

As one side of the scale tilts down, the other tilts up, in the unending dance seeking balance. So, incurable optimist that I am, I return to the brighter side of our society. There is hope, while at the same time there is great threat…
