SIN — WHAT IS IT?

We talk about it all the time, without a meaningful definition. “Oh, it’s violating God’s will”. Uh, ok, what is God’s will? “The Ten Commandments”, dumb butt.

Why? Why are we given those rules, out of which many more “laws” have sprung? “Because God said so”. Excuse me, but bullshit.

In Hindu philosophy we are given the term “Ahimsa”, meaning “Do no harm”. If we do no unnecessary harm to others or ourselves, we have done no “sin”. Think about it. Is it not the choice to do unnecessary harm that amounts to “sin”?

Yes, there are occasions when we are required to do harm in order to prevent an even greater harm. That is a tough, slippery path, but very real.

If a gunman threatens the life of an innocent person, and I shoot him, as I would, to him I have done harm. I deemed it necessary harm — no sin.

Let’s not even discuss the stupidity of “original sin”. We are not born sinful creatures. If we were, God would be at fault, and God makes no errors.

Ok, I here the arguments against that regarding all the evil we think we see in life, but we must remember, God sees the whole scene from above this game board, and we on the game board do not.

We see it only as we come to it, and later come to realize, maybe not till we have graduated from the game, why terrible things must happen

Those of you who know me know I could go on and on with this. Not this time. That’s it. I suggest we consider just what sin is before we jump to conclusions in our judgements.

What do you think?
