THE NECESSARY EVIL

Since this will be about Donald Trump, the term “evil” is uncomfortable. Problematic, difficult, unlikeable, even dangerous, but I am not calling him “evil”. He is necessary for our growth.

It is not by accident he is thrust upon us. And, shockingly, he serves a necessary role in our development. Any emotion toward him must be restrained. I work at avoiding feeling negatively toward him. If anything, I pity him. He plays a very difficult role in our lives.

He longs to be loved, even worshiped, and yet he sees the truth that millions, if not billions of people hate and fear him.

His assignment is to be the despicable destroyer. He is compelled to be everything reasonable people see to be negative, unlikeable, even inspiring hate, all the opposite of what he seeks.

He is a necessarily unhappy, lonely man. It goes with his assignment.

How does his presence work to our benefit? We of this nation have a deep wound. His job is to tear it open and pour toxicity into it to precipitate a crisis. This is necessary before healing. Most of us are unaware of the critical wound we carry.

What is the nature of this wound? Our basic values have gone astray. Our God has become money, material wealth, and shallow self interest. We are not generally an authentidally spiritual people. Our self centeredness is a crippling illness.
