Very well thought and stated. You have nicely painted in some blank spots. Kudos. As a scientist (geophysicist) my current concern with science is the propensity of many scientists to personally identify with their previous beliefs, and push away new credible insights. This is not the scientific way. With this unscientific behavior they lose credibility for themselves and for science in general.
