MORE THAN I CAN SAY

We all hear a great deal about what is wrong with humanity. Most of that negativity is focused upon those with whom we disagree politically or theologically. “They” are the fools. Interestingly, they think the same about us.

I’ll not now go into what we and those with whom we disagree hold in common. It is a vastly important field.

First I speak to the Medium audience. Being a member of that audience, you can be pretty sure I’ll find something positive to say about us, you know, self-enhancement, and all of that.

Now, is our tendency, which I just admitted, one of the things “right” with us? Well, when others fail to point out something right about us, I figure a little self-enhancement is not a bad thing, so long as there is a reasonably sound basis for it. I know, “egocentricity”, but our egos are important aspects of our personality and occasionally can use a little encouragement.

When we do something meritorious, it is ok to feel good about it.

It doesn’t hurt to occasionally boast ourselves a bit — just a bit. Then shortly after the boast, ego grabs the bait and runs, seeking to get excessively prideful. Again, balance is the key. It is a tightrope to stay balanced as we boast ego, then immediately have to restrain it, but that is the game we and ego play.

Running the risk of ego getting excessively prideful, I believe it time to honestly evaluate ourselves, making room for something that…
