"You can't please everyone...."

Reminds me of Ricky Nelsons, "Garden Party." , maybe his best tune, "You know, you can't please everybody, so you got to please yourself".

I thought of this on my second reading of your fine article.

At Madison Square Garden he was booed for not sticking to his old favorites, and introducing some new, good songs. It hurt him, so he wrote "Garden Party".

You get what he had to learn the hard way, which is the way most of us learn, I suppose.

I'm kinda' slow. I still learn that way, too slowly.

Damn, at 85 I'd hoped to be smarter.
